Her duties with the corps will include backfield conducting.  She also plays a prominent “acting role” in the corps’ 2009 production, A Soldier’s Chronicle.

Mary Murphy

Mrs. Murphy is also an accomplished musician, transcriptionist, and composer.  She has worked on projects for Coca-Cola, AT&T, Garth Brooks, and the Spin Doctors, performed before crowds of 85,000, and performed solo for President Reagan.  She was also a member of the McDonald’s All-American High School Band and All-American Jazz Band (both on tuba).  Mary majored in Music Engineering on a full scholarship to the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida.  She is also a veteran of the United States Air Force where she performed on piano.

Together with her husband, Joe Murphy (Music City Legend’s Program Director and Brass Arranger), Mary is the co-owner of LOUD Mouthpieces™, an innovative instrumental mouthpiece manufacturer providing a wide range of specialty mouthpieces for professional brass instrumentalists.  The couple also owns Murphy Musicworks, a professional music service specializing in arrangements, transcriptions, lead sheets, original works, and the graphics materials to promote such projects.

Mary and Joe have two amazing children, Lindsay Christenbury, 20, and Sean, 19.  They also have a rescue chihuahua, Trooper, a valley cheagle (chow/beagle), Reesie, and enjoy watching the stars at night out on their deck at the Ranch.

Music City Legend is in its fifth season of field competition following two consecutive 11th place finishes at the DCA World Championship in Rochester, New York.  More information on the corps can be found online at http://www.musiccitylegend.org or call 615-691-1918.
